Secondary Enrollment - Transportation (CNP)
A secondary enrollment must be created when a student is attending a Charter Non-Public school and requests transportation from Columbus City Schools. In the event that the parent decides to have the student remain in Columbus City Schools, the following process must be followed.
- Students that are attending a CCS school and have a secondary enrollment for transportation will need to have their enrollment confirmed by the parent. The parent needs to specify they intend for the student to remain in CCS.
- This can be done by phone, email or written note signed by the parent.
- Once confirmed/received, document the confirmation on the PLP Contact Log.
- Send an email centralenrollment@columbus.k12.oh.us letting the Central Enrollment staff know to end date the CNP transportation enrollment.
PLEASE NOTE: The request for transportation is not documentation enough to withdraw the student from the pre-existing CCS Primary Enrollment.
In order to withdraw a student, we must have a records request from the CNP indicating the student is enrolled. In this situation, there are two best practices that should occur:
- The family of the student should be contacted to confirm that they intend to attend the CNP in the fall. If they indicate otherwise that they actually plan on attending the CCS school, then the secondary enrollment can be end dated (using the steps above) and the student subsequently scheduled.
- If the family indicates that they are attending the CNP in the fall, the CNP should be contacted and asked to provide a records request to initiate the withdrawal process. In this case the student can be scheduled in to the "Located Not Attending" blocker course while we are awaiting the request.
